Recent Forbes Health research conducted on Gen Z shows that improving mental health is now a top priority when making New Year’s resolutions.
This survey involved 1,005 adults as respondents. Approximately 50% of them are interviewed aged between 18 and 25 years.
From the survey results, it was found that 45% of all adults surveyed wanted better mental health as a New Year’s resolution.
“It’s not surprising to hear that,” explained Spa Manager at Elan Spa at Mallory Court Hotel and Spa, Tara James, as quoted on PMJ’s website, Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022.
Based on this experience, James and Chief Executive Simon Haigh share four common tips to help them improve their mental health:
1. Enough Night’s Sleep
Lack of sleep can make you more irritable and less energetic. On the other hand, getting enough sleep at night can make you feel refreshed and energized when you wake up.
2. Make time for yourself
Various daily activities can make a person forget to pay attention to himself.
So, try to spend some time to yourself periodically to relieve the various tensions and pressures you feel.
3. Eat Healthy
Haigh said a healthy, balanced diet can make a person feel better about themselves.
She recommends consuming healthy, antioxidant-rich proteins and fats like fish, dark chocolate, and blueberries.
4. Talk to other people
Establishing relationships or interactions with other people is also important for maintaining mental health.
As social beings, James said humans can feel a better mood just by interacting with other people.***
